Wandering Comma exhibition
One of New York's most celebrated and hyped photographer these days, Ryan McGinley is showing his newest work at the Alison Jacques Gallery in London until the end of this year. For his solo show Wandering Comma, McGinley has assembled seven new photographs in the largest format the artist has yet worked in. Even if you weren't the biggest McGinley fan from the beginning on, it's safe to say that his work and aesthetic has evolved over the last years from a snapshot style to one that is planned, cinematic, timeless and even epic sometime. So if you find a bit of time in your pre-christmas schedule, get down and have a look into these dreamed worlds.

Robin Friend | Slaughterhouse
In his series Slaughterhouse, Robin Friend slowly exposes the intensely coloured minerals of an abandoned Welsh mine. Even as it returns to an atavistic state, the people who carved out their livelihoods and the alien topography are still a palpable presence for the photographer. Just released is ARAF, a film made by Andrew Telling and Owen Richards who followed Friend into the Victorian mines, reverently capturing the light and the quiet atmosphere and the distinctive process Friend used to create these extraordinary images.

I-D Online | interview of Leila and Damien de Blinkk
Read Lily Avnet Brilliant interview of Leila and Damien de Blinkk for I-D Online that gives you an insight into the mind of the directors of French Connection A/W 2011 campaign:
"We never think in ‘buy this’ terms. We think in terms of expressing an idea in a certain way that we hope is “en dehors des chemins battus” (out of the usual roads). If it works, a connection will happen, a trace will stay. "
"The moods came from this search for the essence specific to each article of clothing that would become a kind of subtle, living incarnation of it. We looked for the feminine and masculine qualities of each piece, for its relationship to our skin, to our emotions, expectations and projections of ourselves."

Leila & Damien de Blinkk | French Connection AW11 - The Suit & Shorts Vs Skirt
Two more brilliant instalments from Leila & Damien's latest campaign for French Connection.
The first features 'The Suit'. A powerful ally that gives it's wearer whatever he wants, without it he is nothing - a fresh take on fashion advertising.
And in the second we see hero garment 'The Skirt' in a face off with 'The Shorts' to decide who will be crowned table tennis champion.
Production by OneSix7 Productions
Advertising Agency 101 London
If only all garments could settle their differences over a game of ping-pong, the world would be a better place. There's not much between these two titans of the fashion world. Watch out for some outrageous showboating from the shorts which serves only to further anger the proud skirt. Spare a thought for the ping-pong ball, an innocent victim in this garment grudge match.

Leila & Damien de Blinkk | French Connection AW11 Videos
French Connection have released the first of Leila & Damien's adverts for this autumns collection.
The two shorts place 'the blouse' and 'the lucky shirt' as their subject - making the clothes as the subject.
Production by OneSix7 Productions
Advertising Agency 101 London
Not all men are born equal and not all shirts are lucky. But the man who possesses a lucky shirt is a collar and cuffs above the competition. And should you find yourself caught up in an imaginary bullfight, it pays to have a shirt to hand. Better still, a lucky shirt, with an ace up your sleeve.
The Blouse. The Shirt's better half. Delicate and ethereal, the blouse knows it looks good in natural light and is not afraid to flaunt it. Naughty blouse.

TEST Presents | TEST Magazine
Tonight, fashion film club Test Presents and artist Julie Verhoeven will be hosting a screening of 'The Bitter Tears of Petra von Kant at the Town Hall Hotel, Bethnal Green, London. Verhoeven will be discussing her choice of film and its influence.
The event was created to celebrate and build a better understanding of the unique, increasingly dependent relationship between fashion and film. Jaime Perlman, Art Director of British Vogue, founder of TESTmag and organiser of ‘Test Presents', explains that “Cinema is inspirational to fashion designers, artists and photographers and this was an interesting way to gain understanding of its influence on them. Fashion has always been an important component of story-telling in cinema, but now increasingly, we use film to showcase fashion.”

Joan Miró| The Tate Modern
Joan Miró's works come to London in the first major retrospective here for nearly 50 years.
Miró is one if the greatest surrealist artists, using a language of symbols that reflects his personal vision, sense of freedom, and energy. The exhibition includes many of the key works that we know and love. It also shows that, behind the engaging innocence of his imagery, lies a profound concern for humanity and a sense of personal and national identity. This is a must-see exhibition for 2011, filled with astonishing, beautiful and striking paintings by one of the greats of modern art.
